NIB Port Range for NDMP and Image Backups

You can limit the available port range by using the NIB_PORT_RANGE option. Note that the number of ports in the range must be at least as many as the number of concurrent NDMP operations. Take the following steps to configure the NIB_PORT_RANGE variable:

To configure the NIB_PORT_RANGE variable:

  1. Open the Parameter Configuration Interface in the DPX management console.

  2. Select the “nibbler (Advanced data/device server)” module on the device server node.

  3. With Basic Visibility enabled, verify that the NIB_PORT_RANGE has a range of ports defined, e.g., 50000-50030.

  4. Ensure that the corresponding TCP port range remains open on the firewall.

For additional information, see Parameter Configuration Interface. For information on configuring DPX firewalls, read knowledge base article 45914.
