Prerequisites for Agentless VMware backup with Catalogic vStor

Agentless VMware backups to vStor server requires the following components:

  • The vStor server is installed or deployed in the environment and at least one proxy server exists. The proxy server(s) can be 64-bit Windows or Linux, either physical or virtual.

  • vCenter administrative privileges or specific privileges. To browse VMs for backup without interruption, the Sessions privilege Validate session is required.

  • VMware Tools installed on each VM protected by Agentless VMware Backup.

  • Virtual hardware Release 7 or later on each VM protected by Agentless VMware Backup.

  • An iSCSI initiator on the VMware ESXi server hosting the restored VM. Software and hardware initiators are supported. The iSCSI initiator must be properly configured on a network that can communicate with the master server and the vStor server. The iSCSI initiator must be online and enabled on the VMware ESXi server.

  • A release supporting Agentless VMware Backup installed on the Catalogic DPX Master Server and at least one proxy server.

  • At least one proxy server that is based on Microsoft Windows or Linux. You can use either a physical machine or VM.
