Monitoring a Catalog Job
When you select Run and Monitor, the dedicated Monitor Jobs window appears, where you can monitor and control the job.
The Monitor Jobs window has a summary area , source and destination status areas, and a detailed message area. The phrase Not Available may appear in the title box next to the job name, indicating that DPX is unable to provide job statistics.
Catalog restore is a dedicated operation. You cannot run other DPX backup or restore operations when a catalog restore is in operation.
When restoring a Catalog, most of the usual job monitoring functions are visible on screen, but they have no useful purpose when DPX is overwriting the database and Catalog files for the system.
If a Catalog restore is not successful or is disrupted for some reason, the master server may not be in a usable state. Very likely, the management console will not permit login. You can try to recover from this by shutting down the master server DPX services. Once the services are shut down, look in the DPX installation bin directory for the files ending in the suffixes: .lok and .dis. Remove these files. Once they are removed, restart the DPX services and attempt to log in again. If this procedure is successful, you may need to set up tape devices again in order to attempt another Catalog restore. It is often easier to uninstall the DPX master server, reinstall, and try the Catalog restore process again.
