Assigning a Policy to VMs in VMware vSphere Client

After defining a policy in the DPX Management Interfaces, take the following steps to assign a policy to the VM in VMware vSphere Client. You can assign one policy for each VM. Multiple VMs may share the same policy.

Restrictions. You cannot assign policies to container objects, such as resource pools, folders, or VMware vApps.

  1. Open VMware vSphere Client.

  2. Right-click the VMs to protect, and click DPX Actions > Select DPX Policy… to open the DPX Policy dialog.

  3. Select the policy that was defined in the Configure UI. Click Update.

See the Select DPX Policy dialog box and ensure that the policy was assigned to the VM.

Performing these actions will protect the selected VMs based on the defined policy. In the VM table view of the vSphere Client, you can see the information about the policy assigned to the VMs in Assigned DPX Policy column and the last successful backup in the Last DPX Backup column. You can see the backup job progress and results in the DPX Management Interfaces.
