Backing Up DB2 Databases
DB2 database backups with DPX are done just like any UDB EE or EEE backup. Set the backup source option, Data Compression, to No for DB2 database backups.
Your DB2 backup will use the configuration file that is assigned to the environmental variable DB2_BEX_CFGFILE. If DB2_BEX_CFGFILE is not set, the default sbt11cfg.BEX will be used. For more information about the configuration file, see DB2 Job Control.
A database administrator can back up the DB2 database in either of two ways:
Using scripts is recommended.
The database administrator also has the option to type the commands at the DB2 command prompt.
If you are backing up DB2 transaction logs and DB2 databases in separate backup jobs, use the exclude logs option when backing up DB2 databases. This will prevent conflict scenarios where DB2 database backups request transaction logs that are currently being backed up to tape in a separate archive backup job.
