Running Backups

Backups are defined and run exactly as with other libraries.

At mount time, if a qualifying tape (empty or appendable) is in a media pool, the juker requests a specific tape from the ACSLS server.

If there are no qualifying tapes, the juker requests a tape from the scratch pool. The tape is labeled “on the fly” and the backup proceeds normally.

Tapes remain in the Media Pool with an “empty” status after they are condensed out of the Catalog.

Since DPX addresses the library via an interface, the slots are not individually visible to DPX. The Operate Tape Library window is therefore unavailable.
