Deleting a Media Volume
Media volumes can be removed from a media pool if their status is New
, Empty
, or Expired
. Status is indicated under Status : Current Value
in the Edit Media Volume dialog.
To change the status of a Full or Appendable media volume to Expired:
Warning! Executing this procedure deletes from the Catalog all backup jobs on this volume.
Click the Configure tab on the Function Tab bar of the window, then click Media.
In the left pane, select the media volume whose status you want to change.
Right-click the selected media volume name or icon to display a context menu. Then select Expire All Jobs. A dialog box prompts you to confirm the job expiration.
Click Yes in the dialog box.
Note. The media volume status does not change until the next Condense Catalog is completed. If you are changing statuses to delete one or more media volumes, condense the Catalog before trying to delete any newly expired media volumes.
To delete an existing media volume definition:
The status of the media volume(s) to be deleted must be New
, Empty
, or Expired
.
Do one of the following:
Right-click the media volume name or icon to display a context menu. The selection is indicated by the selection check box next to the media volume icon and the Edit Media Volume dialog for that media pool displays in the right pane of the Configure Media window. Then select Delete.
In the left pane, select the media volume you want to delete.
From the menu bar, select MediaPools > Delete Media Volume.
On the task panel, click Delete Media Volume.
A message box prompts you to confirm the deletion.

Click Yes in the message box. The media volume disappears from the left pane, and its dialog disappears from the right pane.
