Pre-Configuring Nodes for Block Backup to NetApp Storage

Before configuring nodes for use with Block backup to the NetApp storage, use the following procedures to prepare the nodes. To pre-configure the Catalogic DPX client primaries and NetApp SnapVault secondaries for Block backup operations:

  1. Enter and apply the appropriate license keys. Earlier versions of ONTAP require separate keys for primary and secondary SnapVault storage use. Newer versions may not. For questions about NetApp SnapVault licenses and specific advice on your storage system and version of ONTAP, contact your NetApp sales or support representative.

  2. Enable SnapVault:

    • Enable SnapVault on each primary system.

    • Enable SnapVault on each secondary system.

  3. After installing the valid NetApp controller licenses are installed, the DPX Management Interface displays SnapVault primaries in the source pane and displays secondaries in the destination pane, and you can select these objects to define new backup jobs.
