Running a Restore Job

You can run the currently opened job immediately. (If the job is not open, open it.) You have the option to view the job monitor when the run is initiated.

Note. A restore definition must be saved as a job before it can be run. See Saving a Restore Job.

To run a restore job immediately:

  1. Run the restore by doing one of the following:

    • From the menu bar, select Restore > Run and Monitor.

If you do not want to view the job monitor, select Restore > Run instead.

    • On the task panel, click Run and Monitor Restore Job.

If you do not want to view the job monitor, click Run Restore Job instead.

  2. The restore job begins.

  3. If you elected to view the job monitor, the dedicated job monitor for the given backup job appears.

If this is an Image restore, you will be asked to confirm the restore operation.

Note. If you attempt to restore files and the Restore window says, No data in Catalog, set the browse period to cover a specific time frame or from Oldest to Latest. In the Modify Restore Browse Criteria dialog, check off the Include Expired Jobs and Include Offsite Media options.

If this does not solve the problem, the data might no longer be in the Catalog. Check backup logs and the job retention setting for data. If the data is in the Catalog, check whether the tapes that may contain the data but are expired have been overwritten. If they have not been overwritten, use Tape restore to recover the data.
