Considerations for SQL Server Restores in a Cluster

On a cluster, you cannot run a SQL Server restore to a non-shared drive.

To restore a SQL Server database to a new disk, the target disk must be added as a dependency to the SQL Server resource in the cluster administrator. To add a disk as a dependency to the SQL Server, the shared cluster disk must reside in the same group in the Cluster Administrator as the SQL Server resources.
