To restore individual email messages, the post office is restored to a separate location and then accessed as a GroupWise Restore Area.

  1. Using DPX, restore the GroupWise post office to a separate area.

  2. Set up a restore area.

    1. In ConsoleOne, click Tools > GroupWise System Operations > Restore Area Management.

    2. Click Create to set up a new restore area.

    3. On the Identification tab, specify a unique name for the new restore area. If desired, provide a lengthier description to further identify the restore area.

    4. In the UNC Path field, browse to and select the directory you want to use as a restore area.

    5. Click the Membership tab.

    6. Click Add to select one or more post offices or users that need access to the new restore area, then click OK to add them to the membership list.

    7. When the membership list is complete, click OK to create the new restore area.

  3. Verify that the users who access the storage area have read and write file system access to that directory. This step provides users with the File > Open Backup option on their Micro Focus GroupWise clients

  4. Click and select File > Open Backup from the menu bar.

Users are given access to their files from the restored post office information.

  5. In the right pane, select individual items to restore. Right-click and select Restore from the context menu.

  6. When you are finished restoring items to your live mailbox, Click and select File > Open Backup from the menu bar again. This removes the check mark from the Open Backup option, and you are returned to your live mailbox.
