Chapter 8: The Importance of Catalog Protection and Maintenance

The Catalog for Catalogic DPX is a set of files that is stored on the Catalogic DPX Master Server. The Catalog is the heart of your Enterprise. Every time you perform a backup or make a configuration change to your Enterprise, the Catalog is updated. In particular, a backup job updates the Catalog with information identifying the location on tape of every file backed up. This information is used for restoring your backups.

Before you put your DPX Enterprise into production, ensure you have made provision for daily Catalog backup and thoroughly understand the requirements and recommendations for Catalog backups.
