Defining a DPX NDMP Backup of the Latest Snapshot for 7-Mode

For NetApp storage systems supporting DPX Block backup, the DPX latest snapshot feature can assist with backing up the most recent DPX Block backup. When deduplication is used in the volume, the snapshot name is not a predictable name that can be easily defined in an NDMP job definition. In these cases, use the latest snapshot feature, which identifies the most recent snapshot created from a DPX Block backup job and archive that snapshot to tape. The latest snapshot feature is only valid for Dump backup; SMTape backup always protects the entire volume.

To define a new NDMP backup job that backs up the latest snapshot of a Block backup job, select the $LATEST_SSSV_<jobname> folder that displays under the .snapshot directory for the desired volume. You cannot select the .snapshot folder or multiple selections of objects under the .snapshot folder. However, you can select multiple snapshots of the form LATEST_SSV_<jobname> from multiple volumes.

Snapshots created with Agentless VMware Backup have the form $LATEST_SSSV_<vcenternodename>_<jobname>.
