Backing Up a SnapVault Primary

In the management console, the Block Backup window source pane displays both DPX client nodes and NetApp SnapVault primary nodes. DPX client nodes are displayed in a typical File backup source tree structure. NetApp nodes with a SnapVault primary license are displayed in a typical NDMP backup source tree structure.

The first time a backup is run, the job creates the necessary relationship between the primary and secondary systems. You generally do not need to manage these relationships manually; DPX automatically removes relationships as you delete and modify backup jobs. In some cases, you may need to remove SnapVault relationships manually, such as for troubleshooting with Catalogic Software Data Protection Technical Support. For information about deleting a SnapVault relationship manually, read knowledge base article 40027.
