Considerations for Cross-Platform Restores

Backed up data can be restored across platforms as follows:

• Backups from Windows can only be restored to mounted directories on a Windows node through a Windows node.

• Backups from an NSS volume on an OES Linux node can be restored to an NSS volume on either of the systems as supported by Micro Focus. Backups and restores of NSS volumes assures protection and easy transfer of critical security and permissions metadata.

• Backups from a UNIX family node can only be restored to another UNIX family node without security being restored. On the restore destination dialog box, you must select No for the option Restore Security.
