Pre-Script and Post-Script Snapshot for Block Backups

This topic discusses how to use a script to create a snapshot before a job (Pre-Job Script) or after a job (Post-Job Script). Implementing pre-script and post-script for snapshots can significantly reduce the downtime for a database or application that is required to be taken offline during a backup. This is because the duration of time required for a snapshot is much less than the time required for an entire job to complete.

The scripts can take a snapshot of a database before the entire backup job is run, this can significantly reduce the downtime for a database or application that is required to be taken offline during a backup. Prescript and post-script for snapshots are only available for Block Backups.
