Cloning Virtual Machines
You can make multiple replicas of newly created VMs by defining and running multiple Instant or Full Virtualization jobs from the same snapshot.
Note the following requirements:
Each cloned machine must be assigned a unique IP address and machine name.
In the Virtual Machine Information wizard screen, unselect Use original hostname. See Creating Virtual Machines with Full Virtualization or Instant Virtualization.
If the original VM has the Catalogic DPX Client installed, all the replica VMs include the Catalogic DPX Client and are thus ready to be added to the Enterprise for backup.
Tip. Full Virtualization is recommended for cloning multiple machines. Instant Virtualization could be used for cloning, but this is not recommended, as such VMs run from the snapshot on secondary storage. This is generally slower than running from primary storage; moreover, the snapshots on the secondary cannot be deleted by Catalog condense jobs.
