Display of WSFC Resources

DPX displays a WSFC as a cluster virtual node, similar to other types of DPX supported clusters. The presentation of the cluster will display the usual SQL object(s). With WSFC cluster representation, the cluster virtual object displays all the SQL instances and databases housed on the WSFC cluster nodes. The display includes both availability group replica resources and database instances local to the physical nodes. Browsing the physical node itself does not present a SQL object, even if the physical node has local standalone SQL instances that are not participating in clustered failover. A WSFC cluster physical node does not display local SQL resources; all SQL resources are displayed under the cluster virtual object. Although a single server can house multiple SQL instances, you cannot have two or more SQL instances on a machine participate in the same AlwaysOn availability group, as this would defeat the purpose of cluster resiliency.
