Step 1: Restore the Backup Instance from Media to a vStor Volume
Launch the Restore from Media Wizard: a. On the function tab bar, click Restore, then on the Task Panel, click Agentless VMware. b. On the Task Panel, under Archive Restore, click Restore from Media Wizard.
Click New Job to define a new restore job.
On the Select Source window, expand Node Groups and find the peer TCP/IP node of the vStor which was the backup target when the VM was backed up. Drill down to the VM. Expand the VMDKs and select the backup instances for restore. Note the following:
You cannot select the whole VM; select all its VMDKs instead.
You can make multiple selections, but from each VMDK you can select only one instance.
All restore selections must be from the same backup instance. That is, the backup instance listed in the Backup Date/Time column must be the same for each selection. Click Next.
On the Select Destination window, select the vStor volume to restore to.
Warning! The restore job will fail if the original vStor is selected as the destination and the Agentless backup job has not been expired. Instead, use a different vStor as the destination.
Warning! The restore job will fail if you select as a destination a volume that already contains copies of files. Instead, use a volume with a different name.
The best practice is to create a new separate volume for the restore and delete it after the restore.
Click Next.
On the Job Options dialog, set the options in all tabs. For more details see Job Options for Image Restore in the Reference Guide.
Click Next.
Save the job then click Finish. You are prompted whether to run the job now or later.
After the job runs, on the destination vStor, run the vstor snapshot show command to view the restored snapshot.
