Virtualization Proxy Servers for VMware

Catalogic DPX processes VMware backups through one or more virtualization proxy servers. These servers create backup snapshots and transfer data to the specified destination, and communicate with the master server. Proxy servers eliminate the need to install backup agents on VMs.

A machine qualifies as a virtualization proxy server if the Virtualization Proxy Server setup type was chosen when Catalogic DPX was installed on the machine. At least one proxy server is required for VMware protection, but multiple proxy servers are recommended. By default, the Catalogic DPX Master Server contains an embedded proxy server.
