Running a Backup Job
You can run the currently opened job immediately. (If the job is not open, open it.) You can view the job monitor when the run is initiated. If you do not have the backup job you want to run open, open it.
Note. It is strongly recommended that a CHKDSK operation be run on a client node before the first backup of that node. Any reported problems must be repaired prior to the base backup.
Note. A backup definition must be saved as a job before it can be run.
To run a backup job immediately:
Open the Backup Type dialog box by doing one of the following:
From the menu bar, select Backup > Run and Monitor. If you don’t want to view the job monitor, select Backup > Run instead.
On the task panel, click Run and Monitor Backup Job.
If you don’t to view the job monitor, click Run Backup Job.
The Backup Type dialog box appears.
Note. Before you can successfully run a differential or incremental backup job, you must successfully completed a base backup job with the same name.
In the Backup type dialog box, select the Backup Type for the job to run. The following table describes your choices:
Base Backup
Backs up all the files in the backup source selection.
Differential Backup
Backs up all the files in the backup source selection that have changed since the last base backup of the same name.
Incremental Backup
Backs up files in the backup source selection that have changed since the last base or incremental backup with the same name.
Click OK. The backup job begins.
If you elected to view the job monitor, the dedicated job monitor for the given backup job appears.
