Oracle Interface Background

To ensure the integrity of the Oracle database for backup and restore, DPX uses the utility RMAN. This utility was developed by Oracle to back up and restore data in an Oracle database either online or offline.To use this utility with sequential media (tape), use a Media Management Layer (MML). The MML interfaces with third-party media management software like DPX. The media management software then manages the transfer of data over the network, keeps track of where the data goes, and controls the storage devices. DPX provides a high-performance MML for RMAN.
