Emergency Licensing

In most situations, it is easier to obtain a 7-day emergency key and use this key for all your recovery operations until the environment is stabilized. 7-day emergency keys are available for download from your online support account. For longer than seven days, request a longer trial key from your sales representative. Using these keys eliminates many technical barriers that could hamper a critical restore operation. For example, your disaster recovery provider provisions a tape library larger than what you typically use for backup operations. These keys are only used for emergency work.

If you are recovering a failed master server back to the original server, use your usual perpetual license key. If you are provisioning a new server to host the master server, it is easiest from a licensing perspective if you provision a machine that is the same architecture and host name.
