Editing SCSI Reserve/Release

You may want to reserve a device that is sharable through the SAN in order to protect that device during an operation. This option applies to device server nodes in SAN paths only.

To edit SCSI Reserve/Release:

  1. Right-click the node name or icon to display a context menu, then select SCSI Reserve/Release.

  2. The Define Device Reserve/Release Option dialog box for that node appears. From the pull-down menu, select Yes or No.

Yes

During a job, instructs DPX to perform a hardware reserve of any device whose SAN path is through this node. Yes is the default.

No

During a job, instructs DPX not to perform a hardware reserve of any device whose SAN path is through this node.

  1. Click OK.

The operation that reserves the device must finish before the reserved device can be released.
