Deleting an Existing Backup Job
If a Backup job is no longer needed, you can delete it to avoid clutter. Additionally if you chose to remove associated DPX SnapVault backup instances, secondary storage space is reclaimed. For the procedure to delete an Agentless Backup job, see Chapter 15: Agentless Backup for VMware in the User's Guide.
Delete a backup job in the following ways:
From the Backup window
From the Configuration window
The following describes the two methods:
To delete an existing job from the Backup window:
If you are not already in the Backup window, click Backup on the function tab bar.
On the task panel, select the type of backup job, for example, Block backup to NSB storage.
Open the Delete Job dialog box by doing one of the following:
On the task panel, click Delete Backup Job.
Right-click the enterprise name or icon to display a context menu, then select Delete Backup Job.
From the menu toolbar, select File > Delete Backup Job.
The Delete Job dialog box appears.
Select one or more backup jobs for deletion from the pull-down list.
Click OK.
The Confirm Deletion dialog box appears.
If you selected the Block backup to NSB storage job type, the Expire all job instances check box appears in the dialog box. By default the checkbox is unselected. Select the check box to tag for removal all backup instances associated with the SnapVault backup jobs you selected for deletion. The backup instances are removed the next time you run a Catalog condense. Removing backup instances reclaims space on secondary storage.
Click OK. The backup job is deleted immediately. As noted in the previous step, backup instances are not deleted until you run a Catalog condense.
To delete an existing job from the Configuration window:
If you are not already in the Configuration window, click Configure on the function tab bar.
On the task pane, select Job Folders.
Expand the job folder in the selection tree to display jobs.
Select one or more jobs for deletion.
On the task panel, select Delete Job.
A message appears asking if you want to proceed with deletion.
If one or more of the jobs selected for deletion is a SnapVault backup job, the Expire all SnapVault job instances check box appears in the message box. By default the check box is unselected. Select the checkbox to tag for removal all backup instances associated with SnapVault backup jobs you selected for deletion. The backup instances are removed the next time you run a Catalog condense. Removing backup instances reclaims space on secondary storage.
Click OK. The backup job is deleted immediately. As noted in the previous step, SnapVault backup instances tagged for removal are not deleted until you run a Catalog condense.
