After Seeding

Post-seeding activity involves automatic continuing incremental backups of the remote source to the Catalogic DPX Open Storage Server (the same one where you restored the base backup) over the slow internet connection. Because the Catalogic DPX Block incremental backups transport only changed blocks, the backup are small and the limited connection is sufficient. No action is required on your part. In our example, seed backup will be updated with incremental backups.

Note that data backed up using the seeding process is not available for recovery until the first incremental backup completes successfully.

Tip. The Stage 2 Seeding restore can require considerable time. If the restore fails, it may not be necessary to rerun the entire Stage 2 Seeding job. Contact Catalogic Software Data Protection Technical Support for advice.
