Step 4. VMware Restore Wizard: Select Target Host
On this page, select the restore destination. The procedure differs depending on your selection on the Select Operation page:
To select a target host, if you selected an operation other than VMDK Instant Access:
Select a host to restore to. Select either the original location or an alternate location:
Original Location. Restore to original location is the default. This is the top location shown in the display. Note the location name, Original Location.
Alternate Location. Any host other than Original Location is considered an alternate location.
VMs display but only hosts are selectable. When an alternate restore location is selected for a VMDK file, only VMs are selectable.
The check box option Check this option to delete the virtual machine if it exists on the target host controls handling of an existing VM of the same name as the restored VM. If the check box is selected, the VM is deleted if it is not in a resource pool. If the check box is selected and the VM is in a resource pool, the restore job fails.
Click Next.
