Generic NDMP Restore with File History Processing

NDMP backups that support and include file history metadata allow you to restore by choosing from a list of files that had been backed up. Selecting NDMP files that were backed with file history processing is very similar to selecting files in a standard File restore.

To use NDMP to restore data with file history processing, File History must have been enabled during backup. For information about the file history option, see Job Options for NDMP Backup. In addition, the NDMP File History Handling option on the Backup Source Options window must not have been set to Disable File History.

Note. The tree structure for NDMP restore in the management console differs from the tree structure for most non-NDMP restores. For NDMP restores, version information (dates and times that backups were performed) displays before the directory/file information. The version information does not display with the file itself, as it does for non-NDMP restores.

To perform the NDMP restore with file history processing:

  1. Select a specific backup to restore or expand the tree to display more detail such as directory and file names.

  2. Proceed as you would for a file restore.
