Defining a Backup Policy in the Java-based DPX Management Interface

A backup policy can be defined for the DPX Plug-In for VMware vSphere Client through the Java-based DPX Management User Interface. Upon logging in to the Configure UI, the Save as Policy will appear in the Job Tasks pane of Agentless Backup screen of the DPX Management Interfaces. The policy behaves as an agentless backup job without source information. If VMware vCenter was not added through the Configure UI or if you have not deployed the plug-in, complete the instructions in Configuring the DPX Plug-In for VMware vSphere Client.

To protect a VM from the DPX Plug-In for VMware vSphere Client, a policy needs to be defined. Take the steps below to define a backup policy.

  1. In the Java-based DPX Management Interface, open the Backup tab.

  2. In the Backup Modes pane, click Agentless VMware.

  3. Select the Backup Target, the job options, and a schedule for the policy, and click Save as Policy.

  4. Enter a name for the policy and click Save.

After assigning the policy to the VM, open the Monitor Jobs tab and see the job in the Job Review section by specifying the days to run.
