File-Level Recovery of Master Server Operating System
In most cases, it is easier to install a new operating system and start over. When critical recovery is underway, simplify this recovery process by keeping hardware and software versions that were working at the time of failure. If that is not possible or if more time is available for the recovery, a fresh install can provide opportunities to adjust data drives, upgrade the operating system, apply new patches, upgrade hardware, or upgrade master server version. File-level recovery of a bootable system with all installed software can be done but it is more efficient to install a fresh OS and start over.
