Specifying Source Device Cluster for a Restore

You can specify which device cluster to use for the restore job by using the Device Clusters selection space in the left pane of the Restore window.

The default selection for the device cluster is Original Cluster, i.e., the device cluster containing the device on which the data was originally backed up. However, DPX provides the ability to mount your backup tape on another device compatible with the original backup device.

To select a non-default device from the Device Clusters selection space:

  1. Click the + to the left of the Device Clusters icon to reveal the selection space for the device clusters in your Enterprise.

  2. Drill down to the device from which you want to perform the restore by clicking the + to the left of the resources.

  3. Click the name or icon of the device to be used for the restore. This device must be compatible with the original backup device.
