Cluster Name Account Permissions for Installing on Clusters
Installation on a Windows cluster node requires that the cluster name account in Active Directory have proper security rights to create an account for the DPX cluster virtual node. Properly configure the cluster name account in Active Directory to successfully complete a DPX installation on a cluster node and be able to back up the cluster.
If the cluster name account, also called the cluster name object, is not properly configured, installation on the first cluster node will complete, but the readme file that appears after installation completes will display the following message.
*Error: Error when Configuring Bex Cluster service. Please use Windows Cluster Administrator *
It is important to examine the readme file to confirm a successful installation on the first cluster node. If the error message is ignored and you continue to install on other nodes in the cluster, installation on those nodes will complete without the error message. If you then attempt to backup the cluster, the backup fails.
The cluster name account, also called the cluster name object, is the computer account of the cluster itself. This account is created automatically by the Create Cluster Wizard on Windows and has the same name as the cluster. The cluster name account is important. Through the cluster name account, other accounts are automatically created as you configure new services and applications on the cluster. If the cluster name account is deleted or permissions are removed from it, other accounts required by the cluster cannot be created until the cluster name account is restored or the correct permissions are reinstated.
