Chapter 50: SQL Server Interface

The DPX interface for Microsoft SQL Server is fully integrated with the management console. This integration allows you to back up and restore online SQL Server databases in the same centralized, user friendly environment where you back up and restore all your other data. You simply point and click to choose which databases to back up and restore without bringing down the SQL Server or leaving the management console.

This topic covers traditional file-level backup of SQL Server. DPX also supports SQL Server block-level backup through DPX Block Data Protection, which is covered in Chapter 20: Microsoft SQL Server in the User’s Guide.

DPX supports several Microsoft SQL Server versions.
