Archiving Block Data to Cloud Storage by Using the Java-based DPX Management Interface

Take the following steps to archive Block data to cloud storage by using the Java-based DPX Management Interface:

  1. From the Java-based DPX Management Interface, open the Backup tab.

  2. Click Block in the task pane.

  3. In the Job Tasks section, click Archive to Media Wizard to open the Block Backup Wizard.

  4. Click New Job.

  5. In the Source pane, select the source data to be protected. This is a recovery point that already exists from a previous backup job. Click Next.

  6. Select the media pool and device or the device cluster to serve as the destination for the data on the Select Destination pane. This will be the device cluster that is configured as one of the cloud providers. Click Next.

  7. On the Job Options pane, set the options appropriate to your environment and the job on the Source, NDMP, Script, and Notification tabs. Click Next.

  8. On the Save pane, enter a name for the job in the Job Name field. Optionally, select a job folder from the Folder selection box.

  9. Click Schedule Job. The Job Schedule window appears.

  10. Enter the schedule for the archive job. Select Once, Hourly, Daily, Weekly, or Monthly. Enter a time and date for the Backup at fields.

  11. Select Base in the Run selection box.

  12. Enter repetition and retention in the Repeat Every and Retention fields.

  13. Select the cloud provider that was created as a device cluster from the Device Cluster selection box.

  14. Select the cloud pool that was created as a media pool from the Media selection box. Click Apply, and click Finish.

Ensure that the Block data was archived and stored in the cloud storage that you registered with Catalogic DPX.

Note. Follow the same steps in this task to create an incremental or differential archive to cloud job. The base archive to cloud job must exist prior to creating an incremental or differential archive to cloud job. Instead of selecting Base in the Run selection box, select Incremental or Differential.
