Pre-Installation Considerations for UNIX or Linux
Note the following pre-installation considerations:
A fresh install or upgrade does not require a manual reboot. However, if you need to uninstall and reinstall a Linux client running Block Data Protection, you must reboot after the uninstall but before the reinstall. The reboot clears change journaling to enable correct journaling on the new installation.
Linux client installation requires at least 10 percent free space (physical extents) in each volume group. For information about installation failure related to free space, read knowledge base article 46169.

If you are upgrading an OES2 client from a release installed under a non-default product directory, the upgrade succeeds but may result in versions of the product in two different directories. If that occurs, remove the earlier version to avoid conflicts, then reboot to ensure the new installation launches as expected.
