Configuring AltaVault Storage Appliance
Use a NetApp AltaVault cloud integrated appliance to send backup and archive data to the cloud. AltaVault was formerly called SteelStore.
Backup to an AltaVault storage appliance is supported in DPX for file-level backup, NDMP backup, and DPX Archive. Backup to an AltaVault requires that the appliance be configured as a DiskDirectory device in DPX.
On the AltaVault storage appliance, create a folder on the NFS or CIFS share that will be used as the backup destination.
In DPX configuration, configure your device and media as you would for a DiskDirectory. The following DiskDirectory configuration requirements apply:
The Device Type of the device cluster must be DISKDIRECTORY.
The Device ID must be a complete path to the directory that is your desired backup destination. In DPX device configuration, populate the Device ID field with the AltaVault storage appliance details. For a Windows device node, enter the UNC Path with resolvable host name or IP address and path for the folder on the CIFS share. For a UNIX/Linux device node, enter the path to the folder on the mount point of the AltaVault NFS share.
The Media Type of the media pool must be DISKDIRECTORY.
Note. The Catalogic DPX Advance Protection Manager Service and Catalogic DPX CMagent Service need to Log on as a user that has access to the CIFS share.
