Procedures to Prepare the Incremental Job

The goal of this process is to enable incremental backups to run seamlessly from the original client to the Clustered Data ONTAP storage.

  1. Do the following:

    1. At the primary site, open a command prompt on the original client node.

    2. Change the directory to <DPX-product-directory>\bin.

    3. Run syncui to enable the syncui prompt.

    4. Run c s <IP address of the original client> sssnap.

    5. Run snap seedcj .

    6. Run quit to exit the syncui prompt.

Repeat the above steps for each volume.

  2. On the spare node, using Windows Explorer, navigate to the product directory. Open the RELATIONSHIPS directory, which is a hidden folder. Within RELATIONSHIPS, copy all the folders of the format [jobname]nodename@{volumeserialnumber} from the spare node to the corresponding folder on the original client node.

  3. Using the management console, update the IP address of the original client back to its original IP address. (It had been changed to that of the spare node earlier in the procedure.)

Note. If the original volume is a volume mount point or the original drive letter differs from that of the spare volume, change the job definition source to select the whole node of the original client.

  1. Run the block backup job defined earlier in this procedure. The volumes are hereinafter backed up as incrementals to the destination Clustered Data ONTAP storage server.
