Editing a Media Volume
To check the status of a media volume or edit a media volume definition:
Click the Configure tab on the Function Tab bar of the window, then click Media.
Open the Edit Media Volume dialog in the right pane by doing one of the following:
Right-click the media volume name or icon to display a context menu. The selection is indicated by the selection check box next to the media volume icon. Then select Edit.
In the left pane, select the media volume you want to edit and do one of the following:
From the menu bar, select Media > Edit Media Volume.
On the task panel, click Edit Media Volume.
The Edit Media Volume dialog appears in the right pane.
Revise the following status as needed:
Status : Offsite
Status : Read Only
Revise Maximum Number Passes Allowed, Capacity, and Comment as needed.
You cannot use the Edit Media Volume dialog to change the Media Pool Name, the Volume Serial Number, or the Media Type fields. To change these fields, you must delete the original volume and then add a new volume.
Select Apply on the task menu at the top right of the right pane. If you are unable to see the task menu, resize the right pane.
Note. You can use Edit Media Volume to check the status of a media volume. Statistics concerning number of partitions on the volume, and the history of the volume are provided in the Edit Media Volume dialog. The following is also provided:
Status : Current Value
This is the volume status. Possible status conditions are:
Appendable | Contains unexpired data; additional data can be appended to the volume. |
Empty | Does not contain data but is labeled. |
Full | Contains unexpired data; no more data can be recorded on the volume. |
In Use | Currently being used by . |
In Mount | Currently being mounted. |
New | Not yet labeled. |
Offsite | Currently vaulted; may be full, appendable, or expired. |
Twin | The volume is one of a pair of twinned media volumes. |
