Mapping Preparation

Catalogic DPX uses iSCSI Initiator to log into your storage system. A LUN and initiator group are created. The LUN is associated with the instance of the Block backup that you are mapping to a Windows drive letter or Linux mount point. ISCSI Initiator then instructs the operating system, running on the restore target node (the DPX client), to map a physical disk (identified by the LUN) to the drive letter or mount point you selected for an Instant Access restore.

Tip. The LUN is persistent on the storage system. In the Microsoft Windows systems with the Catalogic DPX Client, the drive mappings are persistent until you remap it. In the Linux systems with the Catalogic DPX Client, the drive mappings are not persistent.
