S3 Object Storage backup securely backs up data as objects within a structured system of buckets. Each object has a unique identifier and metadata, which enables efficient organization and retrieval.
vStor in version 4.12 or newer is the only supported backup storage for this job type. vStor manages S3 Object Storage backup data, creating a separate volume for each bucket protected in a backup job.
Running another instance of the same job will update the bucket to the current version.
Running a backup using a new job definition will create a new volume for this bucket.
S3 Object versioning is supported both for backup and restore.
Before running an S3 Object Storage backup, ensure the following conditions are met:
The destination storage for backups is vStor 4.12 or newer. For the latest version of vStor, go to .
All buckets selected for backup have versioning enabled. Otherwise, the job will fail.
The clocks of the S3 Object Storage and DPX Master Server must be synchronized. Otherwise, subsequent (incremental) backups may ignore bucket changes that occurred within the time gap.
