Nodes are machines (either virtual or physical) on the network that are part of the Enterprise. See Nodes in the Installation and Configuration chapter to learn more.
Below is a sample Nodes view.
You can control this view by ordering items by Name, Node Group, Type, Address/hostname, or OS (operating system). Note also the Items per page value which can be useful when managing the display.
There are also three filters available to narrow down the displayed list.
Search filter allows filtering with a substring within any of the displayed attributes, such as Name, Node Group, Type, Address, or OS. Wildcards are not supported.
Group Name filter is a drop-down list of all existing node group names
Type filter is a drop-down list of all existing node types
Multiple filters may be used, but only one of each type, i.e. you cannot use more than one Search filter at the same time. Filters can be cleared one by one using the cross symbol to the right of the filter label.
To add a node, follow the procedure described below.
Click the Add Node button. The Add Node dialog will appear.
Choose the node Type, specify the new Node Name and provide its Resolvable Host Name or IP Address. When specifying the Group Name, you may choose an existing name from the drop-down list, or select the Add Group option to trigger another dialog for creating a new node group. See Adding a Node Group below.
Note. At this stage, if you add and save a new node group but abort adding the node, the new group will still be added.
Depending on the type of node selected in Step 2, different input fields may be displayed in the dialog, such as the Port Number or Username and Password for DPX to connect with the node.
Click Test to verify the node parameters and credentials (this step is optional but is recommended, as no connection validation is run when saving a new node).
Click Save. The new node is now added.
Node groups are a way to organize nodes into logical groups, e.g. storage nodes or tape nodes. In future releases, they will enable you to define backups and privileges for multiple nodes at once. Currently, access to such functionalities is limited to the desktop interface. See also Adding a Node Group below.
To display the Node Groups view, go to Nodes in the sidebar and then select the Node Groups tab.
Below is a sample Node Groups view.
You can control this view by ordering items by Node Group name, Creation Time, or Description. Note also the Items per page value which can be useful when managing the display.
In this view, only the Search filter is available. The Search filter allows filtering with a substring within any of the displayed attributes, such as Node Group, Creation Time, or Description. Wildcards are not supported.
To add a node group, follow the procedure described below. You can also add a new node group when adding a node. See Adding a Node above.
In the Nodes view, go to the Node Groups tab.
Click the Add Node Group button. The Add Node Group dialog will appear.
Specify the new Node Group Name (Allowed characters are: alphanumeric, .
_
-
).
Select the Media Pool Name and the Device Cluster Name from the drop-down lists.
Optionally, you may add a brief description to the node group.
Click Save. The node group is now added.

Tip. If you expect an item to be visible in the list but you cannot see it, make sure it is not excluded from viewing by filtering. For newly added items, you may also use the Refresh button to make sure the list is up to date.
