Object Storage Service (OSS) provides a highly scalable and cost-effective backup target for DPX. It allows writing backup data to cloud-based object stores like AWS S3, Azure Blob, and others.

Object storage provides virtually unlimited capacity for archiving cold data. There are no hardware restrictions on scalability. Object storage services from major cloud providers also offer very low cost combined with built-in durability and availability. DPX integrates broadly with both public and private object stores through S3-compatible APIs.

Backup jobs can then archive data directly to the object store based on specified policy. This allows seamless tiering to the cloud.

Object storage can be deployed as:

  • Public cloud storage (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)

  • On-premises private object storage

  • Hybrid architectures leveraging tiering
