An event list in DPX is a list of all major events concerning the performance of DPX.
In practice, it displays mostly warnings and critical events which naturally are more of a concern for the user.
Below is a sample Events view.
You can control this view by ordering items by Severity, Created Time, Category and Title. Just click the column header to enable ascending/descending ordering. The Hostname column will usually be empty, as most events concern the DPX Master Server itself. If a warning is triggered e.g. by GuardMode Agent, its IP address or resolvable name will appear in the Hostname column.
Note also the Items per page value and navigation buttons at the bottom of the list, which can be useful when managing the display.
The Notification Settings tab consists of two main areas: Notification Targets, where notification recipients are defined and stored, and Notification Rules, which stores definitions of situations when a certain notification target is sent a message.
To add a notification target, click the Add Target button. The Add Target dialog will appear.
Specify the Target Name. The allowed characters are: [a-Z] [0-9] _ - . , ( ) &
. All other special characters are prohibited. The field may not contain more than 256 characters.
The Type field is set to “E-mail” by default and cannot be changed. Other notification types will be available in the future.
Specify Target E-mail. Multiple addresses are handled – just separate them with a comma or press Enter to confirm each e-mail address.
Click Save. The new notification target is now added to the list.
To add a notification rule, click the Add Rule button. The Add Rule dialog will appear.
Select the Severity of events that will be reported in the notification. Unchecked severity levels will be ignored by this rule. Multiple selection is possible.
Select the Event Type. Multiple selection is possible.
Select the Target Name from the drop-down list. The list includes all target names defined in the Notification Target section. Only single selection is possible but the defined targets can intersect.
The Advanced Options section (normally collapsed) contains one setting, specifying the notification repetition interval (default: 5 minutes).
Click Save. The new notification rule is now added to the list.
