Disk Directory
Disk directory provides a simple disk target for DPX backups by allocating specific folders on available storage volumes. Any local disk, SAN volume, or NAS share mounted through NFS/CIFS protocols can be configured as a disk directory repository. This provides flexible utilization of different storage tiers and networks without requiring additional hardware.
The disk directory is tightly integrated with DPX data protection workflows, enabling backups to be written directly to disk based on specified policies. It also complements tape archival storage for long-term retention in a disk-to-disk-to-tape model
Typically, short-term backups are retained on the disk directory before being migrated to tape storage on a defined schedule. This provides fast recovery from disk combined with tape archiving.
Disk directory storage can be deployed on:
Local disk volumes on DPX servers
Mounted SAN volumes
NAS storage mounted through NFS or CIFS
