Creating Volume Snapshots in vStor

vStor allows the creation of snapshots of volumes to capture their state at a point in time. Snapshots can be used for data protection and recovery purposes.

To create a snapshot of a volume using the vStor Web Interface:

  1. In the Storage tab, click on the name of the volume you want to snapshot.

  2. In the detailed view of the volume, click on the Snapshots tab.

  3. Click Create Snapshot.

  4. In the Create Snapshot dialog:

    • Specify a name for the snapshot.

    • Toggle Protect if you want to enable deletion protection for this snapshot. You can choose between:

      • Manual Control: The snapshot will be protected until protection is manually disabled by an authorized user.

      • Time Control: The snapshot will be protected for a specified time. If using time control, enter the desired protection period.

See also. For details on snapshot deletion protection, see . To use deletion protection features, you need to add MFA to your vStor account. For details, see .

  1. Click OK to create the snapshot.

The new snapshot will now appear in the Snapshots tab for the volume.

Attention! You cannot delete a volume that contains protected snapshots.

Note. The replication size shown for each snapshot represents the incremental data change since the previous snapshot.
