Restoring Configuration Settings from Another vStor

This recovery method allows you to restore vStor configuration settings that have been replicated to a partner vStor.

Prerequisites

Deploy a fresh vStor with network access to the vStor where the configuration volume has been replicated.

Procedure

  1. Open a web browser and go to https://<vStor hostname or IP>:8900.

  2. Log in as admin. If this is your first login attempt, the password will be admin. You will be prompted to change the password.

  3. In the first step of vStor initialization, select Recover from another vStor. Click Start.

  1. In the Credentials step, specify the hostname or IP address of the vStor where the replicated configuration file is stored, and provide user credentials for the user with access to the replicated configuration volume. Click Next.

  1. If the specified user account is protected with multifactor authentication, an additional step will be shown to provide the MFA verification code. Click Next.

  1. In the Config File step, select the volume where the configuration file replicas are stored, then select the configuration file. Click Next.

  1. The configuration file will be loaded. This process may take some time and various http connection errors may be reported. When the process is done, the login screen will be displayed.

  1. In the Pools step, select disks for each recreated pool. Compare the pool size with the disk capacity to ensure enough volume space is assigned. Click Next.

Tip. If your device does not have enough disks or disk space to accommodate the recreated pools, you can add more disks and refresh the pools view.

Note. If you have at least one disk per pool, but not enough disk space to accommodate all the data from the pools, you can continue with initialization and select which volumes to recover, or add more disks, at a later stage.

  1. In the Volumes step, select volumes to recover from partner vStors. Click Recover.

Tip. Recovering all volumes may take some time. If you need to urgently recover particular volumes, select only those volumes in the Volumes step. You can manually recover the remaining volumes from the Storage view when the initialization process is completed.
