Performing Catalog Restore under a Different IP Address

Catalog Restore is a disaster recovery utility that allows you to restore the Catalog in the event you lose it. The Catalog is the database on the Master Server that stores all job information, retention information, node information, and all backup metadata. Therefore, restoring the Catalog on a working DPX may result in data loss due to missing or inconsistent backup metadata.

Typically, the Catalog Restore job should be run on a newly deployed DPX Master Server, under the same IP address. If you cannot provide the same IP address, some additional steps are required for the Catalog Restore to take full effect.

  1. Perform Catalog Restore as described in the Catalog Restore section.
  2. When the Catalog Restore is complete, reboot your DPX Master Server machine.
  3. Log in to your DPX Master Server (use credentials valid for the DPX Master Server you were restoring from).
  4. Go to the Nodes view and find the master node.
