Advantages of Using DPX

Use DPX to back up SAP for performance advantages, centralized management, and to schedule backups.

Performance Advantages​

You have the following capabilities to achieve performance gains:

  • Split large files into multiple portions and back up the portions concurrently. This is particularly beneficial with raw partitions.
  • Back up multiple files to multiple devices at the same time.
  • Interleave more than one file onto a tape to sustain throughput.

Centralized Management​

Use DPX to back up SAP to consolidate all your backups to a single product. A single Catalog tracks saved data for simplified management. It eliminates the need to define a master server at each SAP node. Keep your current master server and install a client on each SAP node.

Regularly Scheduled Backup​

When using multiple tape libraries, you can back up and restore data for long periods without any human intervention by scheduling your backups.
