Bare Metal Recovery (BMR) is not supported for ReFS file systems.
When using System level restore (IV/FV/BMR) storage space configuration will not be restored.
For IV/FV storage, space configuration may not be restored.
Feature Support Notes
Cluster
- Master server installation on a cluster is not supported.
- Active directory on cluster or application node is not supported.
- Device / SAN device servers on physical nodes are supported, but device servers are not cluster-aware and will not follow failover. For more details, see the Cluster chapter in the Catalogic DPX Reference Guide.
NTFS
NTFS deduplication is supported with Block Backup:
- File History is not supported and is disabled.
- Image Backup is not supported. Deduplication should be disabled on the server or volume for the duration of Image backup for seeding.
- Volume restore is optimized and selective file restore is not optimized.
- Do not enable deduplication on a DPX product volume for master and OSS, except the deduplication support for OSS.
- DPX Archive (sometimes referred to as Double protection) is not supported for client source volumes with deduplication set and OSS backup.
ReFS
- Microsoft ReFS is supported for Exchange 2016 and SQL Server 2016 and later on ReFS volumes.
- File History is not supported and is disabled.
- Image Backup is not supported.
- DPX Archive is not supported.
Restoring ReFS volumes may result in unmountable or inaccessible destinations when the source and destination are both dynamic disks. This issue is seen with the Windows Server 2022 client.
As a workaround, use basic disks or restore individual files instead of full volumes when working with ReFS dynamic disk backups to avoid potential data loss. Full volume restores work as expected for NTFS and other file systems.
DFS
Windows DFS support:
- Recovery to the original location is supported.
- Restoring to alternate locations requires user intervention.
- DFS is not supported on Windows Cluster.
