Deployment Platforms

The following sections list the environments on which the Catalogic DPX components can be deployed. For the deployment procedures, see Installation and Configuration in the DPX Guide.

DPX Master Server​

The DPX Master Server virtual appliance can be deployed:

  • in a VMware vSphere environment, using the .OVA template,
  • in a Microsoft Hyper-V environment, using the .ISO image,
  • on any physical or virtual device, using the hardware-agnostic .ISO image (available since DPX 4.14).

Catalogic Backup Appliance​

Catalogic Backup Appliance is an integrated backup solution that installs DPX (the backup software) and vStor (the storage backend) on a single host – physical or virtual. It is deployed using the hardware-agnostic .ISO image, with a choice of installing DPX together with vStor or DPX only.

Important.

Installation requires that Secure Boot is disabled.

Catalogic vStor​

Catalogic vStor servers can be deployed:

  • on a physical machine,
  • in a VMware environment,
  • in a Hyper-V environment.
